One time Prime Minister of St. Marten and past leader of the National Alliance Mr. William Marlin, is growing tired of how the Dutch Kingdom is dealing with the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Mr. Marlin made reference to the generosity of the Dutch giving financial aid to independent countries and most recently to the troubled country of Lebanon, donating millions of Euros without any condition. But they are unwilling to provide loans for Kingdom Partners like Curacao, Aruba and St. Maarten as a result of their failing economies because of the Pandemic.
Marlin also said these Islands are not allowed to seek financial help elsewhere unless permission is granted by the Kingdom and its financial control units- like the (CFT) that was put in place to help control spending in the countries in this part of the Kingdom. And if that was not enough, another Kingdom Control Unit or (New Entity) was recommended as part of the condition these Islands have to meet if they are to receive any help from the Dutch to survive; having lost their Tourism economy as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
William Marlin who considers himself to be on the last leg of his political career is calling on citizens to consider what is at stake if we are to continue leaning on the Dutch to bail us out when their ultimate objective is to recolonize these islands and keep them in subjection to their colonial Masters.
Over the Years since St. Maarten became Country in the Kingdom the amount of Autonomy and responsibilities we’ve gained to establish our country, we’ve shown that we can do it on our own. When we started with country St. Maarten in 10-10-10 we left these established governmental entities in Curacao, owned by the Central Government of the Netherlands Antilles of which we were apart and completely build these entities and ministries by ourselves from the ground up.
We can do it ourselves says Marlin. We must not be afraid to take the independent Responsibility for ourselves and to move away from being dependent on the Dutch whose sole objective is to keep us in bondage while they rule and we remain divided and pointing fingers at each other not moving forward to gain our ultimate National freedom. He said he has never been more pleased and encouraged with these new Members of parliament who seem ready to work towards Independent Responsibility.
