Workers give seniors outing to watch Carnival Parade
Last April the workers at the St. Maarten Senior Citizens home brought out their clients to see the Grand Carnival parade along the Bush Road. One of the workers told me it was important to give the seniors an opportunity to experience the outdoors while giving them a chance to see the Carnival Parade first hand.
We would love to compliment the workers for this initiative on behalf of all senior citizens who have lived and made their contribution to building a St. Maarten we all live in and enjoy. For the most part, when they are confined to the Seniors Citizen’s Residence, they seldom leave the area but are cared for by these care givers. Often the only memory seniors have of what areas of St. Maarten looks like, is what they could remember in their active lifetime. The only chance of experiencing anything different while at the home is probably when they are visited by family and friends.
We hope to see more initiatives of this kind done for one of our most important and resourceful part of our history (our seniors) will be on the agenda of the recreation planners at the residence, as the New Year 2018 opens.
