Residents and commuters wake up to an ugly scene near the Bus stop on L.B. Scott Road in Cul- De – Sac leading into St. Peters Wednesday Aug. 21st, when someone either living in the area or close by, felt it is was OK to dump their unwanted bed and furniture to the Side of the road. There are three bins in the area for household garbage but certainly doesn’t suggest that it was alright to place house rejected domestic furniture in the area and not properly disposed of such on the land fill.
That of course is not only of environmental concern for citizens but should never be tolerated in any community. If we have no environmental policy with attached penalties for violators, can we blame those responsible for such violations and indecency when there is no consequence for their actions? Or is it safe to say on St. Maarten we tolerate everything.
It’s bad enough for citizens to be exposed to such environmental hazardous waste just dumped to the side of the road, but for our tourists visiting the popular Flying Dutch Man at Emilio’s Park to see this, speaks very bad of us and our standard of cleanliness as a tourist destination. This should never be allowed to happen on St. Maarten without finding out who did this and make them an example for others.
