PHILIPSBURG—JetBlue’s newest route from Fort Lauderdale to St. Maarten landed at Princess Juliana International Airport Thursday carrying 127 passengers. Finance Minister Mr. Perry Geerlings, and the First Vice-President of the Collectivité of St. Martin, Valérie Damaseau, were among the dignitaries Thursday hosting the arriving passengers.
During a brief reception at the SXM Airport’s Departure Gate # 1, Director of International BlueCities, JetBlue Giselle Cortes spoke highly of St. Maarten’s newest route as an addition to its Latin America and Caribbean connections.
Today, JetBlue has again shown its commitment to the rebuilding of St. Maarten’s economy with the added service out of Fort Lauderdale adding more than sixty-two thousand five hundred seats for the destination. This translates into thousands of heads-in-beds for our hotels and as many covers for local bars and restaurants. It peaks the interests of even more travelers and signals that St. Maarten is definitely open for business.
Also on hand for the welcoming ceremony was Chief Executive Officer for PJIA Mr. Bryan Mingo, who in his brief remarks stated that the airport was proud of the achievement, given the years of hard work that had gone into getting the new route. Jet Blue will operate daily nonstop service to St. Maarten arriving at 11:55am at Princess Juliana International Airport and departs at 12:55 pm to Fort Lauderdale.
