Governor receives formation update from Meyers

Harbour View – On Saturday December 09, 2017, His Excellency drs. E.B. Holiday, met with formateur Mr. Franklin Meyers and received an update on the progress regarding the pending points of the formation of a new interim Goverment which was originaly requested to have been submitted on December 04^th 2017.

The release from the governor’s office indicated that Mr. Meyers, after considering that the background screening of candidate ministers is still ongoing, requested a further extension of his commission to form a new government. The screening covers a background review of (a) the personal and professional credentials, (b) the financial position, (c) the fiscal (i.e. tax and social security premiums) compliance, (d) the judicial background including possible suspicious transactions, (e) the security background and (f) if necessary, the health condition of the candidates. The purpose of the screening is to assess the integrity, independence and solvency of the candidates as well as the stability of the new government.

Governor Holiday as a result and having assessed the situation extended the commission for Mr. Meyers to present him the final report of the formation process by December 15, 2017. That would give Mr. Meyers the formateur, some additional days to finalize and present his report.
