Mellissa named New Minister of TEATT…
After much waiting from the present coalition, for the likely person to fill the position of Minister of TEATT, Miss Melissa Doncher has been sworn in as the minister responsible for Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication.
On April 4th, 2017, His Excellency the Governor of Sint Maarten, drs. E.B. Holiday, administered the oath of office of Mrs. Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher as Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication. The Council of Ministers is now complete with 7 members.
This website has learned that after the USP political party board President failed the screening, nearly a half a dozen more names were vetted and failed to qualify as minister and that includes the party’s political leader MP Frans Richardson. Finally another member from the USP board successfully passed the screening. The Names of those who failed is not available to us.
During the ceremony Governor Holiday stated that the new Minister has accepted to serve in challenging economic times. At a time when there is much to do and much debate about the state of and vision for our tourism based economy. The Governor therefor recommended that the Minister when deliberating taking action use the oath as a guide to develop opportunities to realize the aspirations of our people.
The new Minister was congratulated by Governor Holiday and wished strength and wisdom in the performance of her responsibilities on behalf of the people of Sint Maarten.
