While the amount of active cases on the Dutch side of the Island hovers around 50 to 69 during the last six week period, current updates for October 26th 2020 is 50 active cases. CPS continue to monitor those in home quarantine based on contact tracing, and testing are continuing. The number to watch however, is the total amount of persons tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic started; that number up to October 26 stands at 789.
The amount of persons who died as a result of COVID-19 are 22 and at the moment there are 6 patients hospitalized with the virus and one isolated in serious condition. Tests are actively been carried out by CPS among arriving passengers at the airport and throughout the community.
The Parliament just this past week accepted a motion calling for further opening of its borders to visitors and the use of rapid testing to make it easier for persons wanting to travel to the Island. The motion also called for permission to be granted to crews on the tourist ships that stop by daily for refueling and shopping. It’s not clear what is happening on the French side. There has been inconsistent bulletin issued by French authorities to confirm where they are at with controlling the virus.
