The office of Discover Dominica Authority was hosted by the Dominica Foundation here on St. Maarten on the weekend of June 29th, as they embark on the launching of the World Creole Music Festival for 2018 inviting folks to Rediscover Dominica. The Island was ravaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017 forcing the cancellation of their celebration of the famous World Creole Music Festival and the 39TH Independence celebration.
Lots of work went into making sure the island is once again ready to receive visitors for this year’s World Creole Music Festival. At a Meet and Greet Cocktail celebration held at Oyster Bay Hotel Friday, two of the representatives from the Dominica Authority, Destination Marketing Director Ms. Vicky Chandler and Marketing Executive Samantha Letang encouraged attendees to once again rediscover the Nature Island. According to the executives as part of the building back better concept, Dominica was able to reopen as many tourism sites as possible and saw the return of Tourist ships to the Island as part of its recovery efforts. Rediscover Dominica is an important statement to make says the executives, in light of the preparation to host the 20th World Creole Music Festival and the 40th celebration of Independence, right after enduring one of the strongest hurricane to hit the Island.
After giving the assurance that Dominica is back, green again and ready to receive visitors, the lineup for the region most popular Festival was presented and shared with those present, featuring some of the Entertainers who would be performing for this year’s Music Festival on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of October 2018, and followed by their 40th Independence Day Celebration.
