DP & UP reconnect under United Democrats banner

President of the combined list of the United Democrats Stewart Johnson says the movement was formed to take St. Maarten through what he called the critical reconstruction phase that is before the Country.

According to Johnson, the many unaddressed realities since the passing of Hurricane Irma, and the crippling of our economy as a result of the hurricanes, demonstrates that our people and the country needs leadership and hope. This he said inspired the coming together of both parties to form the United Democrats to contest the Election.

Leading the United Democrats is MP Theodore Heyliger, with MP Sarah Wescot Williams as the number 2 candidate. There is no mention of who the other candidates will be, but Johnson refers to them as capable individuals who are ready to serve. The list of candidates for all parties are expected to be submitted Friday January 5th Postulation day for the elections which is scheduled for February 26th 2018.
